Ever since the establishment the school’s activities have been intertwined with the international mobility projects, which were until 2007 performed under European programme Leonardo da Vinci.
In 2007, we became holders of the extended Erasmus university charter, which enables EU co-financing of students’ practical training mobility as well as the mobility of employees. More about their experiences can be found at gostART blog.
Activities of Erasmus mobility were continued under the programme Erasmus+ as we were the holders of Erasmus university charter for the period 2014–2020; and currently we are holders of the Erasmus university charter for the period 2021-2027.

The Vocational College of Hospitality and Tourism Maribor (VCHT) was founded in 1998 as a public institution with a clear goal of satisfying the needs of the hospitality industry. College progress towards the goal can be seen through study programmes (Catering and Tourism programme and Wellness programme – the latter was the first accredited Wellness programme in Slovenia), international recognitions/awards, associations (AEHT, EUHRODIP, EUHOFA, ALPINA, GEORGE BAPTISTE) and students (high employment rate, visible positions of our students, active Alumni club). CHT is pledged to international cooperation via different activities ranging from mobility (we received multiple recognitions from the national agency for mobility for excellence), international events, competitions, conferences, excursions and projects.
VCHT has around 500 students, 12 staff and 40 lecturers. Close relationship and cooperation with the industry (local and global) is our value. We have educational B2B centre (we were one of the first educational institutions in Slovenia that branched out its reach as an industry partner seeking to promote knowledge transfer in order to stimulate innovation through fresh ideas and different workshops) that stimulates an atmosphere of cooperation.
Hospitality sector starts with punctuality, readiness and discipline which we promote among our staff and students through code of conduct which we strictly follow. Tidiness, goodwill and respect is something we foster and transfer to our students. We view this as the basic factor of their attitude towards working in hospitality where their personality can grow together with the company that employs them.
We fully embraced the mission of education respecting the global and local environment through sustainable culinary approach (local produce, heritage, modernized local culinary, respect towards ingredients and energy consumption). Recognizing new models of teaching directed towards the younger generation is one of the aspects where we want to progress and set standards for other colleges of hospitality and tourism. Spearheading the field of blended learning in hospitality is seen as a further logical step towards our goal.
