Practical training is very important at VSGT Maribor. Each study year our students have to perform 400 hours of practical training in companies. Therefore at the beginning of the academic year we traditionally organize an important event DAN MENTORJEV (Mentor’s day), where we invite companies from our Network of Companies and students. Company representatives and mentors have the opportunity to briefly introduce themselves to the students and point out the advantages that would help the students to decide for the company of their practical training. Before presentations, Leonida Polajnar, the director of the Maribor Regional Chamber of Commerce and Industry addressed companies and students and highlighted the invisible but strong bond between students, companies and the economy.
This year’s event was prepared by our students of Hospitality and Tourism Nejc Zorec in Ivan Raduha as a part of their diploma project under the mentorship of Helena Rošker, Tomi Gregorinčič and Tadej Ljubec. Moderator was our graduate Gaj Herman. Nejc and Ivan came up with special “rules of the game” for companies. Each company had exactlx 90 seconds available for the presentation and a maximum of 3 slides in the powerpoint presentation. 35 representatives and mentors responded the invitation and gave students an interesting presentation of their companies. The event ended with pleasant socializing and a feast prepared by Nejc, Ivan and their school colleagues.
We are positive that after today’s event it will be easier for students to choose a company for their practical training.
